Thank you very much for reading the March–April edition of MD News. Once again, we examine the world-class health care available right here in Central New York. A growing partnership between Oneida Healthcare and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center creates more local access to top-quality cancer services and specialists. Until recently, Central New York residents were often burdened with a long commute to receive care. Access to a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated cancer center — one that meets the highest level of cancer care and research nationally — used to require one to drive to New York City, Bu„alo or even out of state. Unfortunately, the trip to Bu„alo or New York City from Central New York takes several hours. That makes it di…cult for patients with cancer to arrange convenient treatment schedules, and may be an uncomfortably long ride if they are dealing with the side e„ects of chemotherapy treatments or radiation therapy. Seeing the need for more convenient local access to high quality cancer care in Central New York, Oneida Healthcare and Roswell Park formed a partnership that brings services and specialists to local patients — not the other way around. Once again, I would like to thank all those who come together to create our magazine. Here at MD News, we are dedicated to delivering an engaging reader experience, one with real local relevance.
