Joy Finegan, wife of Robb
passes away
Joy Finegan, wife of Robb Finegan, a
longtime store owner and member of the
run specialty community, passed away earlier
this month.
Joy and Robb had been married for almost
25 years. In fact, June 26th would have been
their 50th anniversary. "Joy was a truly
amazing person. Probably the most kind,
strong independent woman that I have ever
met. I am so thankful to have been married
to her for the last 25 years," Robb posted on
social media.
Robb said he will mark that anniversary
with a "CELEBRATE JOYPOWER" on
June 30, 2018 and by spreading her ashes at
the first few mile markers. "She ran so many
miles on that trail and I can't think of a better
way of remembering her."

Andrew Tilin, Austin writer and cyclist
Andrew Tilin, an Austin-based writer who was a regular at The Running Event,
was killed while cycling earlier this month.
He was struck by a truck while changing a flat tire on his bike the side of the road.
Tilin, who wrote "The Doper Next Door," was riding with a group of cyclists
from Grupo VOP, a cycling club, along RM 620 when he pulled off the road
to fix a flat tire on his bicycle.
A pickup and car collided nearby, sending the truck spinning into Tilin, who
was a freelance writer and author. Tilin later died at Round Rock Medical Center.
"Andrew Tilin was funny, smart, talented, and passionate about the things
he loved. That included bicycling, running, hiking—really, anything that got
him outdoors amid the beauty of the world. He was searingly honest and infec-
tiously optimistic. He had a huge, open heart. He made anyone in his circle feel
uplifted, and no situation ever existed where there wasn't the possibility of a
laugh," wrote his friend and colleague Bob Howells.
Tilin leaves behind two teenage children, Isaac and Leila; his partner, Shellie
Oroshiba; and the mother of his children, Madeleine Tamayo Tilin. n
