Central New York 05-820 PUBLISHER from the ............................................... Richard Keene PUBLISHER Central New York ............................................... rkeene@mdnews.com 315-446-8331 ............................................... @MDNewsCentralNY Thank you very much for reading the May/June edition of MD News. Once again, we examine the world-class health care available right here in Central New York. Our cover story features the orthopedic group, Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists, or SOS. As readers of this magazine, we have chronicled the growth of SOS over the years into the regional leader it is today. With comprehensive orthopedic o-erings and physicians whose expertise spans the spectrum of orthopedic subspecialties, Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists provides treatment for the most complex bone and joint conditions. Yet the practice is also community-centric — patients can access high-quality orthopedic care at seven strategically located o…ces across Onondaga County. As the field of orthopedics has evolved, so has SOS. Since the practice was founded in 1999, SOS has been committed to caring for patients across Central New York and beyond. With the addition of newly trained physicians in sports medicine, foot and ankle surgery, and more, SOS continues to expand the list of complex procedures its providers o-er. Now we see further growth on the horizon, with the opening of an expanded One Day Surgery Center in Cicero, slated for Spring 2019. Over the past decade, the Crouse Institute for Robotic Surgery has become the largest multidisciplinary robotic surgery program in Central New York, thanks to an experienced team of regionally and nationally recognized physicians and a commitment to using the most advanced, minimally invasive technology available. Crouse Health began o-ering robot-assisted surgery using the da Vinci Surgical System in August 2008. Since then, the health system has continued to set the standard for robot-assisted surgery in the region, to the benefit of both patients and providers. In 2017, Crouse highly trained surgeons performed more than 1,000 robotic-assisted procedures, more than any other area program. Once again, I would like to thank all those who come together to create our magazine. Here at MD News, we are dedicated to delivering an engaging reader experience, one with real local relevance. In each issue, we highlight distinguished and accomplished physicians and practice groups. We also provide updates on the latest medical studies, pointers for managing your practice and a unique look at what is happening in the local medical community. We love to receive nominations for our cover stories, current news within your organization and feedback on articles. I would also like to suggest that you visit mdnews.com to discover a wonderful resource for healthcare marketing. We are here to serve the physician and healthcare community. Enjoy your issue of MD News, Richard Keene
