Dear Colleagues,
During the
past 40 years, our
organization has
evolved from a
county hospital to a
health system that
serves a multi-state
region. Our primary
concern used to be
just providing excellent care at the hospital.
Now, we're as dedicated to ensuring
quality throughout the entire process of
care, including in the outpatient realm. In
this issue of Physician Notes, you can read
about two examples of how we extend our
care beyond the hospital: our Outpatient
Infusion Center and our use of the Agency
for Healthcare Research and Quality's
IDEAL Discharge Planning.
As UMC Health System has grown, the
medical care we offer patients has become
more complex. Two outstanding examples
of this increasing sophistication include our
award-winning trauma care and our newly
opened Neuro Intensive Care Unit, both of
which we highlight in this issue. ank you
