LiveUP moment JESSICA CARTER, A member of the Mercy Medical Center–Centerville nursing team, was recently recognized as a "top-notch certified nursing assistant" by a patient's family. The unsolicited praise came from Lynda Kauzlarich, whose father was a recent patient. "Jessica's professionalism stood out to me," Lynda says. "She came in every day with a smile and called him 'Mr. Leo.' Nothing ever ruffled her." Jessica's love for her job makes a difference for patients and their families. "Jessica took the time to look each of us in the eye and always explained what she was doing," Lynda continues. "It gave us a lot of confidence in the care my father received." Thank you, Jessica, for "living up" by being Exceptional without Exception. 5 Quick Ways to LiveUP Today 1. Donate cat and dog food to an animal shelter. 2. Take the time to teach someone a skill you know. 3. Babysit for couples or single parents who don't get out much or have much time alone. 4. Check on someone who looks lonely. 5. When someone wants to repay you for something, ask him or her to "live up" by doing it for someone else. Jessica Carter, certified nursing assistant on the medical-surgical nursing unit.
