Calvar y's bereavement program is available to anyone who has experienced a significant death in his or her life, whether that per - son was a patient at Calvar y or someone from the larger community whose death was attributable to illness, accident or violence. Good Samaritan Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), joined a growing number of businesses in Rockland County to become a Breastfeeding Friendly Worksite as designated by the Rockland County Department of Health's Breastfeeding Promotion and Support Program. The hospital, which employs more than 1,400 female staff, offers a des - ignated Employee Lactation Room complete with a breast pump that employees can use, breastfeeding-related education materials and breastfeeding-centered artwork to help a mother feel more comfortable and relaxed while using the room. Breastfeeding-friendly employers who proactively support employees who choose to breastfeed their infants when they return to work have seen many positive impacts to the bottom line. Employers that provide lactation support ser vices report higher employee retention, fewer absences, higher morale and greater overall productivity in their workforce. Montefiore Nyack Hospital announces its trauma center has been verified as a Level III Trauma Center by the Verification Review Committee (VRC), an ad hoc committee of the Committee on Trauma (COT) of the American College of Surgeons. This achieve - ment recognizes the trauma center's dedication to providing optimal care for injured patients. The Hospital has the only Trauma Center in Rockland County, and its Emergency Department is one of the busiest in the Lower Hudson Valley, ser ving almost 60,000 pa - tients annually. Verified trauma centers must meet the essential criteria that ensure trauma care capability and institutional performance, as outlined by the COT. The Verification Program is designed to pro - mote the development of trauma centers where hospitals provide necessar y resources to address the trauma needs of all injured patients. The program also incorporates initiatives to improve all phases of care of the injured patient and to prevent injuries before they occur. Recognizing that trauma is a surgical disease, the COT demands surgical leadership and commitment from each facility's surgeons to the improvement of trauma care. CareMount Medical has expanded into risk-based partnerships with three leading Medicare Advantage (MA) payers, including Aetna, Anthem and WellCare. MA plans typically offer more benefits than traditional Medicare, including prescription drug coverage, dental, vision and more. Partnering with MA plans allows CareMount physicians to deliver other high-value ser vices, such as preventative ser vices, hospital discharge planning, care coordination and outreach. CareMount physicians are considered in-network for these health plans, resulting in lower out-of-pocket costs for patients compared with seeing a healthcare provider outside of these plan networks.
