This saying has come true for Brad Broderick, whose Falmouth-based firm Broderick Building & Remodeling has grown out of his love of building. "I've been building since I was 4 years old," recalls Broderick, "I started with Legos and moved on to forts and treehouses. It's always been about building." Broderick joined a local union after high school and worked in heavy construction in greater Boston. In the late 1980s — when the recession slowed construction in Boston — he moved to Las Vegas, where he spent seven years honing his craft while building large casinos and hotels . The la rge , complex projec t s allowed him to really learn construction management and fine millwork. After some years, construction and the economy began to pick up on the East Coast, and Broder ick retur ned to Massachusetts, settling in Swampscott. He started his first remodeling business, focusing on older homes in Swampscott and Marblehead. After a few years, he relocated full time to the Cape, where he had been summering for several years. "We really enjoyed our time on the Cape, and once I figured out that I could make a living here, we decided to move here full time," recalls Broderick. "We moved here in 2001, and I began working for a couple of builders, doing their framing and finish car pentr y. By 20 03 , I started getting my own contracts, and the business took off from there."
