Dan Senkiw PUBLISHER Long Island ............................................... dansenkiw@ lexmediagroup.com 914-967-6565 ............................................... @MDNewsMetroNY Greetings, and welcome to MD News Long Island. In our cover story this month, take a deep dive into the Level III trauma center at Long Island Community Hospital. The American College of Surgeons verified emergency department offers life-saving care and on-site vascular medicine, which provides more patients with necessary care close to home. British researchers have found that treating prosthetic joint infections in a single-stage surgery may be at least as effective as the more common two-stage approach. We review their findings in our clinical section about orthopedics. We also examine results of a study that discovered psychologica l a nd physica l benef its for adolescents who receive counseling before and after hip preservation surgery. And we round up a range of statistics about orthopedics. Our national feature looks at research suggesting easy access to retail clinics may help contain healthcare costs by reducing ER usage. Contact me at 914-967-6565, @MDNewsMetroNY or dansenkiw@lexmediagroup.com to learn how MD News can inform the region's referring physicians about your organization's capabilities.
