Other individua ls are still marching a long and ma king progress on their resolutions. But there's a nother group — those who a re physica lly doing something but a re just going through the motions. W hy? Here a re a few suggestions that may help you look at things in a better light. + Tr y another g ym. New faces, dif- ferent equipment and different class offerings await you at a new g ym. Think about investing in a new piece of equipment. The bottom line is, don't be a fra id to tr y new things. Put yourself out there. You never know what you may be good at. At age 45, I decided to ta ke a f itness class and was exposed to many different types of exercise I thought I would never be interested in. I found out that I love heav y power lifts, like dead lifts, shrugs, a nd t he clea n a nd press. W hat I a lso did not ex pect is that I would be good at it a nd much stronger tha n I thought. One of my clients at Wa lton's Tota l F it n e s s a l w a y s c h o s e t h e l i g ht e s t weights for her workouts. Recently, I cha llenged her to tr y heavier weights, e v en i f it w er e for ju s t one or t w o set s. She ended up usi n g more t ha n double the weight tha n she tried before a nd l i f t ed w it h ea se. I loved seei n g h o w pr ou d s h e w a s a n d h e r s e n s e of accomplishment. Don't become stagnant and bored. It 's easy to get in a rut, lose your enthusiasm a nd give up on your goa ls. Sha ke things up occasiona lly, keep your routine fresh a nd ma ke it fun a nd different. You may be much more capable tha n you think a nd discover a new interest or passion for f itness you never thought possible.
