Penn State Health and Highmark Health Partnership Delivers Significant Progress in Network Expansion SINCE PENN STATE HE ALTH AND HIGHMARK HE ALTH JOINED FORCES IN DECEMBER 2017 TO E XPAND ACCESS TO CARE FOR CENTR AL PENNSYLVANIA RESIDENTS, THE PARTNERSHIP HA S MADE SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS TOWARD THAT GOAL. IN RECENT MONTHS, THE HE ALTH SYSTEM HA S ACQUIRED FOUR PHYSICIAN PR ACTICES, OPENED A MULTISERVICE HE ALTH FACILIT Y AND STARTED CONSTRUCTION OF A COMMUNIT Y-BA SED MEDICAL CENTER. " W E A RE BUILDING a geographically dispersed network so patients can use Penn State Health for healthcare services in their communities, limiting their need to travel far," says Bill Bird, DO, senior vice president of Penn State Health Medical Group. "The practices that have joined us have superb quality and have delivered excellent patient service for years, which was a big driver on our part to want to affiliate with them." First among the practice acquisitions in August 2018 was Berks Cardiologists Ltd., which has served as a leader in cardiac and vas- cular care in Berks and Schuylkill counties for more than 45 years. Now known as Penn State Health Medical Group – Berks Cardiology, the practice also serves residents at its Pottsville location. Andrews Patel Hematology/Oncology joined Penn State Health Medical Group in September 2018 after serving the area for 30-plus years with high-quality, compassionate oncology and hematology services. Penn State Health Medical Group – Andrews Patel Hematology/Oncology has locations in Harrisburg and Camp Hill and provides inpatient cancer services at several local hospitals. Located in West Reading, All About Children Pediatric Partners PC joined Penn State Health in February and now offers patients enhanced access to care in coordination with nearby Penn State Health St. Joseph and Penn State Children's Hospital in Hershey. All About Children Pediatric Partners in West Reading has been providing preventive and acute health care for Berks County children since 1991. The new Lime Spring Outpatient Center in East Hempfield Township offers Lancaster County residents both primary and specialty care under one roof. Since its founding in 1991, the newly named Penn State Health Medical Group – All About Children has served as a resource for children with special issues and abilities, including autism, diabetes, mental challenges, asthma, cystic fibrosis and others.
