Michael Novak, MSM, MBA, FACHE Michael Novak, MSM, MBA, FACHE, has been appointed Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Montefiore Nyack Hospital. In this role, he will provide leadership for all Hospital staff, with particular emphasis on information technology and support services. Novak joins the Hospital from St. Mary's Health System, part of Trinity Health, where he spent several years as Vice President of Administration and Chief Operating Officer. He holds a Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Management from Albertus Magnus College, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Boston University. He is a Six-Sigma Green Belt. Theresa Madaline, MD Montefiore Health System has promoted Theresa Madaline, MD, to the position of Hospital Epidemiologist, a role dedicated to safeguarding the hospital and its patients against infectious diseases. Dr. Madaline, Assistant Professor of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, will lead infection prevention and control efforts at Montefiore and serve as its point person with the New York State Department of Health and other public health authorities. In her new role, Dr. Madaline plans to develop and expand Montefiore's infection control team, including additional certified infection preven - tion nurses, infectious diseases physicians and data analysts, furthering Montefiore's commitment to providing the best care to its patients. Laurence Smith White Plains Hospital Board of Directors Chair Laurence Smith has been appointed to the Board of the Healthcare Trustees of New York State (HTNYS), an affiliate of the Healthcare Association of New York State. Smith will serve as one of 25 trustees of HTNYS, representing different types of hospi - tals, continuing care organizations and health systems from all regions across the state. He and fellow Board members will be responsible for providing guidance and oversight for the activities and programs of HTNYS that aim to strengthen the voluntary healthcare system through improved leadership and increased involvement by healthcare trustees. Elizabeth Alderman, MD, Interim Chief, Adolescent Medicine, Children's Hospital at Montefiore, and Professor of Pediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, has been named Chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Adolescence, effective July 1. The Westchester Institute for Human Development (WIHD) recently saluted 22 dedicated employees at its annual Longevity Awards program. Their employment at WIHD ranged from five to 45 years. Susan Fox, PhD, President and CEO, presented each person with their award, and their supervisors shared stories of each individual's achievements. "These honorees have demonstrated tremendous commitment and dedication to our mission. We are very proud to have such talented and caring professionals at WIHD," Fox said at the event, held at WIHD's headquarters in Valhalla. The Westchester Institute for Human Development's annual Longevity Awards program Boris Chulpayev, MD White Plains Hospital is expanding its already robust stroke treatment program to include two highly specialized physicians. Boris Chulpayev, MD, is leading the expansion of clinical services for patients at The Ruth & Jerome A. Siegel Stroke Center at White Plains Hospital. Both he and his partner, Holly Hensley, MD, are neurohos - pitalists — skilled at managing the care of inpatients who have had or are at risk for a stroke, or who have other neurologic disorders. Holly Hensley, MD Dr. Chulpayev received his medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada and completed his residency at the University of South Florida in Tampa. He completed a fellowship in vascular neurology at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis and another with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. Dr. Hensley received her medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Kentucky and completed her internship and residency at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, where she also completed a fellowship in epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology. Rockland Renal Associates Rockland Renal Associates has joined Highland Medical PC, a multispecialty physicians group affiliated with Montefiore Nyack Hospital. This addition expands the services offered by Highland Medical to include renal care delivered by five area experts. Nephrologists Arthur M. Kozin, MD, FACP, FASN; Kenneth S.
