When I go to specialty I want to leave inspired by a curated mix of premium brands and purpose-built product. A great experience usually includes an interaction with floor staff who helped me find the perfect item to fit my needs (because they have experience with the activites they sell gear for). Selection, ability to see/touch/compare products, and customer service that can help if needed or leave you alone to shop for yourself. First, I like being able to develop a relationship with the retailer. When I can walk in and the staff says hi and knows my name, I feel welcomed. I also like being able to go into a brick-and-mortar retailer and get my hands on different pieces of gear. Being able to span the gap between a picture online and the actual thing is huge. Hands down, knowledgeable staff. Also, great value and reliable products. The first thing is the people in the store. The more knowledgeable they are and the more willing they are to help people find items that will help them enjoy the outdoors makes for a much better experience. The second is having spots in the store, or some kind of demo program, so that customers can try their gear out a little more. DETAILED ONLINE DESCRIPTIONS HELP MAKE SHOPPING EASIER. KNOWLEDGEABLE SALES PEOPLE IN THE STORE ARE A KEY ASSET. SPECIAL INCENTIVES FOR US GEARHEADS WHO SPEND A LOT OF MONEY ON GEAR. The knowledge of the staff and the ability to look at the gear/apparel prior to purchase. I love talking with knowledgeable staff and getting their perspectives and opinions on gear to make a better purchasing decision. THEY HAVE LOTS OF REVIEWS ON THE GEAR YOU NEED. THEY ALSO HAVE A GREAT SELECTION OF THE BEST ECO-FRIENDLY PRODUCTS. BEING ABLE TO TALK WITH STAFF AND SEE, FEEL, AND TRY ON THE PRODUCT. G O O D S TA F F. I G O I N T O A S K Q U E S T I O N S.
