N anotex, supplier of molecular-based textile solutions to enhance apparel, home textiles and upholstery, in partnership with Bimini Bay Outfitters, has introduced BloodGuard Powered by Nanotex, an outdoor apparel technology that repels blood and other liquids. "Bimini Bay really understands the practical needs of fishermen and hunters," said Hardy Sullivan, Nanotex EVP. "The result of our collaboration is comfortable garments with proprietary, customized protection from the harsh- est conditions." Nanotex's unique technology bonds to individual fibers, fundamentally transforming the fabric to deliver tailored, one-of-a-kind solutions. In this case, Bimini Bay's BloodGuard apparel resists hard-to- clean stains such as blood, grease, dirt and grime — common elements that are encountered while fishing on the boat or shore. Yet the fabric still maintains a soft, breathable hand. Carole Jankowitz, Bimini Bay Outfitters director of operations, stated, "Whether stains are washed off immediately or days later, you will have confidence that stains will disappear after washing." Bimini Bay Outfitters BloodGuard technology is backed with a one-year limited warranty. l Nanotex Partners with Bimini Bay On Innovative Solution I n an effort to gain greater access to the U.S. market and grow consumer aware- ness of its product line, including a new collection of eco-friendly fasteners, Prym Fashion recently acquired New York-based Sher Plastics, a button and trim manufac- turer founded in 1942. "This is a big step in expanding the Prym name in the U.S.," said Brian Moore, CEO of Prym Fashion. The new entity will be named Prym Fashion Americas, but will continue to do business as Sher Plastics. Richard Sher will serve as managing director of Sher Plastics and Cindy Sher will serve as director, and they will retain part ownership of the company. Greg Adler will serve as director of administra- tion for the company. Sher Plastics' 30 New York-based employees will form the face of Prym Fashion in the U.S., while their staff of 34 in Hong Kong will be incorporated into Prym's existing operations there. With an eye on sustainability, Prym Fashion has launched environmentally friendly snaps in two options, ecoWhite and ecoGreen. Prym Fashion's L.I.F.E (Low Impact Fastener Ensemble) certified snaps are made using less material inputs, and are designed to provide the solution to a total eco-package. "We understand that today's consum- ers expect brands to offer products that are completely sustainable, including the fabric and the trim," said Moore. "These eco-friendly snaps allow our customers to consider every detail and increase the overall sustainability of their products." Made from recycled plastic bottles, Prym Fashion's ecoWhite snaps eliminate the use of crude oil; one recycled plastic bottle can produce 13 snaps. The ecoGreen snaps are made from plant-based renewable resources, such as potato starch and are biodegradable and recyclable. Prym Fashion will soon offer ecoBlue plastic snaps made from recycled ocean plastic. Founded in 1530, The Prym Group is the oldest industrial family-owned business in Germany and one of the oldest in the world.
