IN THE MARKET | TECH NEWS PrimaLoft Launches NEXT Platform, Names Global Marketing Exec rimaLoft Next is a new textile platform offering both the thermal advantages of insulation and the versatility of fabric providing greater design freedom in creating garments with lightweight warmth and breathability, without the bulk. PrimaLoft president Mike Joyce describes the new platform as a "hybrid solution that leverages the benefits of insulation with the flex- ibility of fabric, inviting experimentation by designers seeking to break away from the standard look of insulated apparel." An increased resistance to fiber migration enables greater flexibility to pair with open structure fabrics, and its durability allows for dyed options that provide unique color opportuni- ties. Aesthetically, apparel featuring PrimaLoft Next products will allow consumers to choose from a much wider array of unique styles and color palettes, while providing high levels of performance. The first collection is the Evolve Series, slated for Summer 2020. By mimicking properties found in animal fur, and Evolve Series products are constructed with fibers of differing lengths and deniers to create natural highs and lows in the material. This produces highly open structures that maximize airflow when on the move, and air entrapment when at rest, for optimal thermal performance. The thermo-regulating quality achieved eliminates the need for layering. In other news, PrimaLoft taps Jim Frasier as senior VP global marketing to oversee global business development, product positioning and brand building across multiple industry seg- ments. Frazier is well versed in the outdoor apparel, soft goods, and hard goods space, most recently serving as VP product for United Sports Brands, a collection of several brands includ- ing Nathan Sports, Shock Doctor, McDavid, Cutters, and XO Athletic.
