Nike. "There is no finish line, we will continue to set targets and support our suppliers with technology and expertise," said Rydzewski. Taking a Harmonious Position The late morning session focused on what the textile industry is doing about the harmonization of chemical management within supply chains. The chemical industry is serious about this, to the point that rivalries were set aside as CEOs from Archroma, DyStar and Huntsman Textile Effects sat together on a panel focused on achieving a cleaner future. The companies have signed on to the ZDHC Roadmap to Zero Programme, a coalition of brands and suppliers seeking an eco- efficient supply chain. "We need to harmonize complexities and help speed sustainability, bringing the industry together," said Rohit Aggarwal, president, Huntsman Textile Effects. Georgia Parker, innovation manager for Fashion for Good, a Dutch platform for sustainable solutions, hosted the final session entitled "Pitch for our Planet," inviting six start-up companies to pitch their developments. Ranging from new indigo dye techniques to recycled yarns including from cardboard, to innovative software services for workers' rights and CSR, this platform allowed a peak into the future. As for circularity, it is a noble cause, however, whether it replaces the conventional ingredients on offer now remains to be seen. As a textile exec with over forty years experience said, "I don't share the optimism of circular economy, I think people are underestimating the task ahead." Only time will tell, but as long as the textile supply chain continues to increase transparency and innovate in terms of technology and resources, we will be on the right path. Everyone has to play their part, from the base ingredients right through to the consumer.
