Featuring a low-profile version of the same Vicis RFLX technology found in its Zero1 and ZeroO1 youth helmets, the Ultim Cap offers a thin-walled layer designed to manage impact energy, and delivers an unlimited field of view. According to the com- pany, test results indicate that Ultim reduces impact forces more effectively than any commonly worn soft headgear. Football Canada Bans Tackle Youth Football In a significant message to the sport of football in North America, Football Canada, the sanctioning body for American football in the country, has approved a full- squad tackle football ban for kids under 13 starting in 2022. Tackle football partici- pation in the country has dwindled considerably in recent years amidst rising awareness of the impact of head trauma on brain health. "Support for football in this country is underwhelm- ing and disappointing… at times it can feel like it's under attack," CFL commis- sioner Randy Ambrosie told Canadian government hear- ing on sports concussions. He says 100,000 Canadian youth play football, down 40 per- cent over past decade. According to a report in Yahoo Sports, Ambrosie said the CFL and Football Canada were instead focusing youth efforts on flag football. The tackle football ban applies to 12-on-12 games (Canadian tackle football as an extra player on the field). Kids from 10-12 years old will still be allowed to play tackle football in 6-on-6 and 9-on-9 leagues. Players eight-and- under are currently banned from playing tackle football. BSN Acquires Three Dealers BSN Sports acquired three more independent team deal- ers early this summer. Most recently, BSN acquired Hillock Sports, based in Murray, UT. Hillock has been serving team sports customers in Utah and neigh- boring states for 20 years. Earlier BSN purchased Key Sport Shop, based in Rolla, MO. Key Sport has operated as a Rolla institution for 40 years. Owner Tom Green is retiring and as part of the transaction, the garment dec- oration division of Key Sport has been sold to Heart of the Ozarks Screen Printing. Key's retail store closed on June 22. Previously, BSN acquired Legacy Team Sales, based in Ocala, FL. Founded in 1958 as an outdoor sporting goods store, Legacy Team Sales had grown into one of the largest distributors of team sports gear in central Florida. "Legacy and BSN Sports are ideal partners, as we are both rooted in a family business culture focused on creating positive moments and relationships with our communities and our custom- ers," says Terry Babilla, BSN president. "Moreover, from a business perspective, the McBride family has built a leading team business while offering a truly differentiated decoration service."
