Comeback stories are always enjoyable, and we have a great one in this issue about Summa Health. The Akron- based healthcare system had experienced quite a run of headline-making controversies beginning several years ago. It seemed as though when one concern would be solved, another bigger and more media-wowing challenge would take its place. Fortunately, as the feature story points out, the tidal wave of bad news has not only receded, but Summa Health has been making notable progress in ways many never thought would ever be possible. The leadership of Dr. Cliff Deveny sparked the resurgence, and we feature two of his larger accomplishments: transformation of the organization's facilities and ownership. You'll also have the opportunity to learn about the Summa Health Structural Heart Valve Program which, since late 2014, has performed more than 500 transcatheter structural heart procedures. Dr. Peter M. Bittenbender, Interventional Cardiologist and Director of the program, and Michelle Michel, MSN, APRN, explain how transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) has evolved.
