• Cardiologist Bashar Amr, MD, did his internal medicine residency at Southern Illinois University and completed a cardiology fellowship with the University of Kansas Medical Center. • Internist Kenna Babcock, MD, joined Stormont Vail's Manhattan practice. She completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Iowa- Des Moines. • Shravana Bheemanathi, MD, an internal medicine specialist, completed her residency at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in New Jersey and most recently was at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in New York City. • Dermatologist Zachary Bryan, MD, completed his dermatology residency at the KU Hospital • Obstetrician and gynecologist Deshala Castille, DO, will practice at Stormont Vail's Emporia location. She completed her OB-GYN residency at AMITA Health Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago. • Saranapoom Klomjit, MD, completed an internal medicine residency and a cardiology fellowship at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. • Karthik Ragunathan, MD, completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and finished a gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at the State University of New York Downstate Health Sciences University. • Rheumatologist Joy-Ann Tabanor-Gayle, MD, completed an internal medicine residency at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center in New Jersey and a rheumatology fellowship at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. KHIN AND KAMMCO ANNOUNCE NEW DATA- SHARING AGREEMENTS To improve data-sharing among Midwest providers, the Kansas Health Information Network (KHIN) and its subsidiary KAMMCO Health Solutions (KHS) have entered into a data-sharing agreement with Missouri Health Connection, providing healthcare providers connected to either exchange access to patient records. MHC and KHIN are among the two largest health information exchanges in the nation. The partnership will serve more than 20 million patients in Kansas, Missouri and the Midwest. KHIN and KHS also now have the ability to share data with MinuteClinic, a CVS Health company with more than 1,000 locations in the U.S. The KHIN/KHS network connects more than 6,900 health - care organizations across the nation with health information exchanges in Connecticut, Georgia, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, New Jersey and South Carolina. RENOVATIONS COMPLETED AT ASCENSION VIA CHRISTI REHABILITATION HOSPITAL An $8.8 million renovation of the Ascension Via Christi Rehabilitation Hospital in Wichita has been completed. Besides modernizing the décor, the project included creating 30 private patient rooms. With the rehabilitation hospital's conversion to all private rooms, Ascension Via Christi now has 48 private inpatient rehabilitation beds, including 18 at Via Christi Hospital St. Teresa in west Wichita. Ophthalmologist Jennifer Burgoyne-Dechant, MD, of ICT Eye was among several Wichita-area physicians who participated in a rappelling fundraiser for Project Access. U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT RANKS KANSAS HOSPITALS The top three Kansas hospitals according to the latest U.S. News & World Report's Best Regional Hospitals ranking are: 1. University of Kansas Hospital, 2. Stormont Vail Hospital, 3. Shawnee Mission Medical Center. The KU Hospital also was nationally ranked in eight specialties, and was high performing in three adult specialties and six procedures and conditions. Stormont Vail Hospital was also high performing in one adult specialty and four procedures and conditions. Shawnee Mission Medical Center was ranked high performing in one adult specialty and three procedures and conditions. COMANCHE COUNTY HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATOR RECEIVES KHA'S HIGHEST HONOR Nancy Zimmerman, RN, Administrator with Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater, received the Kansas Hospital Association's highest honor at the KHA annual convention in September. Zimmerman was awarded the Charles S. Billings Award for outstanding contributions to health care in Kansas. She has been with Comanche County Hospital for 44 years, serving as a staff nurse, Director of Nursing and the be - coming the hospital's Administrator in 1990. Also during the KHA convention, the KHA Leadership Institute graduated its 18th class of 30 stu - dents who were nominated by their hospital's CEO. The six courses in the institute's curriculum help cultivate each student's recognized potential for being future leaders.
