F O U N D A T I O N Laying the groundwork for fi nancial success 6 | WINTER 2020 Air travelers 18 years and older will need a REAL ID compliant driver's license or other acceptable form of identifi cation to fl y starting Oct. 1, 2020. That means that your standard driver's license will no longer be accepted by TSA agents when you go through airport security checkpoints. If you have recently renewed your license, you should be clear, but here are some actions to take to make sure you're prepared to board your fl ight this fall: Check for the star If you see a star at the top of your current driver's license, it is REAL ID compliant. You're ready to fl y. Not sure? Reach out to your local driver's licensing agency for more information. Get a new driver's license If you don't have a REAL ID compliant driver's license yet, make plans to renew now. Obtaining a REAL ID compliant driver's license requires more documentation than you've previously experienced. Check the website of your state's driver's licensing agency to determine what documents you'll need. Request a REAL ID Be sure to request a REAL ID compliant driver's license at your appointment. To help ease the process, some states have launched express facilities or mobile REAL ID units to help with resident need and demand. Check with your local driver's licensing authority to fi nd out what options are available to you. Learn more about the new regulation at tsa.gov/realid. — Staff Report Get to the airport on time No one likes sitting in an airport, but you want to make sure you have enough time to get through security, pick up any snacks or reading material and safely be sitting at the gate when they open the doors. Here are some suggested times to make sure your travel experience is well-timed.
