As the year ends, we often think about the past. But as this issue points out, the end of 2019 brings about some wonderful new beginnings in the form of high-profile healthcare industry leadership. Our cover story is on John Langell, M.D., Ph.D., M.P.H., M.B.A., who was appointed by the Northeast Ohio Medical University Board of Trustees to become the Northeast Ohio Medical University's seventh president. NEOMED had undergone an amazing physica l and enrollment transformation under the leadership of its former president Jay Gershen, and Dr. Langell is excited about focusing on building dynamic future leaders who are passionate about medicine and understand the business world upon which they are entering. This issue also brings us news on two dynamic new leaders at the Cleveland Clinic: Thomas E. Mroz, M.D., who has become chair of its Orthopaedic & Rheumatologic Institute and James Merlino, M.D., recently named to the newly created post of Chief Clinical Transformation Officer.
