Studley hit safely in 23 of his last 25
games as a freshman,
helping the Lyons
capture the NEW-
MAC's top seed and
make their 15th all-
time NCAA tourna-
ment appearance.
He recorded eight
hits, including three
doubles, eight RBI
and nine runs scored
over Wheaton's eight
games in 2020.
While Reily, Grif-
fin Young (Dover,
N.H.) — an All-Fu-
tures League second-
team righty for the
Nashua Silver Knights this summer —
and the rest of the pitching sta¦ returns
nearly in its entirety, Studley's own path
to the field will o¦er plenty of lessons to
a Lyons team that also has welcomed in
a large freshman class.
"We knew that his future in the pro-
gram was bright, but he just hadn't
won the job right away," Podbelski
said. "He was continually working
hard and getting better at all phases of
his game aside from hitting. He had to
perform and earn it,
and then we couldn't
keep him out of the
lineup.
"That's really the
nature of any fresh-
man cracking a line-
up or a rotation at
a good college pro-
gram — working hard
and taking advantage
of opportunities. He
had a true vision of
becoming a better
all-around player and
worked really hard to
get himself in that po-
sition."
When opportunity knocks, Jacob
Studley answers.
