Central Pennsylvania 05-868 PUBLISHER from the Greetings, physicians and healthcare leaders. Welcome to MD News Central Pennsylvania. We talk with doctors at Penn State Health Spine Center who are involved in a study to compare similar artificial disc replacement devices on the market, prodiscĀ® C and Mobi-CĀ®, with a goal of pursing two-level approval from the FDA for the most updated version of prodisc C. Each patient, depending on whether their damaged intervertebral discs are rounded or flat, can benefit from either device. We a lso take a look at the OsteoCool RF Ablation System, used by surgeons at the Penn State Hea lth Spine Center. This form of treatment, which includes RF ablation probes with temperature regulation, provides a patient with relief from painful spinal metastases, and is quicker than radiation therapy. Our clinical section on degenerative disease takes a look at researchers' work on Clostridioides difficile infection, and how new target therapies are destroying the bacteria. A separate article takes a look at the timing of when people receive knee replacements, how that can affect the outcomes and the reasons why people put off the surgery. Our national feature takes a look at Direct Primary Care (DPC), which is gaining traction as affordable, concierge-style medicine. Doctors working at DPC practices say that members value the convenience, intimacy and cost- effectiveness, and that DPC brings transparency to medicine. You can leverage MD News' multiple platforms to share information about your organization's capabilities and advanced technologies with referring physicians.
