She smiles, recalling separate instances when Pat brought potential clients to the house to tour it a nd capped the evening with the proclamation that the one house had just clinched the sale of the next. Though there may be little need for big banner advertising, Karina is a fundamental Corrigan team member, instead focusing her attention on the custom design elements. Like her husband, her personal design aesthetic is rooted in the modernist world of clean lines, open floor plans and minimalist stylings, on display throughout their family home. Pat had come across this parcel of land in Dover and immediately recognized its potential. He envisioned the property with a new house, situated differently on the site to allow for and invite a pool and pool house, screened porch, and exterior kitchen, while capitalizing on its private, wooded location. This passion project, slated for their own occupation, allowed them greater freedom of choice and the ability to take risks they wouldn't otherwise consider for a third- party build. With architect Henry Bobek's cunning and fastidious design, the team "pushed the boundaries, and it paid off." Karina paired her design inclination with extensive research, hop- ing to achieve a cohesively modernist feel while careful to incorporate family conveniences and amenities, specific to their needs and wants. She sought to achieve a streamlined, minimalist look; none of the crown moulding and elaborate millwork their in-house carpenters so frequently craft and install in more traditional homes. Consistent throughout the house are light and muted colors, occasionally offset by a bold splash of color. Tile, metal, wood tones and shiplap are also frequently at play—and all of it bathed in natural sunlight—which is the perhaps the most important and deliberate design element. 2 0 | BOSTON.BUILDERARCHITECT.COM Builder+Architect GREATER BOSTON, CAPE COD AND THE ISLANDS COVER FEATURE PHOTOGRAPHY: DAMIANOS PHOTOGRAPHY
