The second-floor open passageway provides visibility in every direction. In order to create warmth and depth in a master bedroom with 12' ceilings, the homeowners customized a knotty cedar floor-to-ceiling backdrop for the bed. The wood was stained, sanded and resealed to achieve the nutty tone. There are five bedrooms in the house. The guest bedroom is on the first floor. The master bathroom is lined on one wall by a single stretch of lower, floating cabinets. To provide definition of space, a large white upper cabinet finds residence between the two sinks.
