This month, we visit Penn State Health St. Joseph Cancer Center, where they're taking the fight to lung cancer in the community. Because this cancer can best be treated when it's discovered early — before symptoms appear — aggressive screening and outreach play a key part of their program. They also offer a range of leading-edge treatments and access to clinical trials. And they have services in place to help patients who have difficulty accessing care. Our clinical section on gastroenterology reports on advances in treatment for GERD. Affecting about a third of people in the U.S., GERD is notoriously difficult to treat successfully.
