Central Pennsylvania 05-868 PUBLISHER from the ............................................... Susan Ecenbarger PUBLISHER Central Pennsylvania ............................................... secenbarger@mdnews.com 717-409-2929 ............................................... @MDNewsCentralPA Greetings, and welcome to MD News Central Pennsylvania. This issue finds us at the Penn State Health Neuroscience Institute, where researchers are pressing ahead with clinical trials into neurological issues, including epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, neurofibromatosis and more. These physician-scientists seek to advance the understanding of disease processes and discover more precise and effective treatments; however, they also maintain a keen awareness of how each disease and its management play out in a patient's lived experience. That makes for multidisciplinary, team-based medicine that centers the patient's well-being. In our national feature, we look at the swift growth of the urgent care market. Some providers argue that urgent care medicine should have its own certifying board. Our clinical section on behavioral health examines the connection between multiple sclerosis, vascular disease and depression. Identifying and treating depression could improve outcomes for people with MS, researchers speculate. We also round up facts about physicians, stress and burnout. I hope you are enjoying spring in central Pennsylvania. Happy reading! Warm regards, Susan Ecenbarger
