8 • Footwear Insight ~ July/August 2022 footwearinsight.com I n Spring 2023, Xelero is set to introduce its "TRU" Recovery Sandal, and it is packed with technology. e sandal's name "TRU" is an acronym for "True Recovery Underfoot." Dan Werremeyer, CEO of Xelero, believes the benefits of the Xelero Technology in the sandal will help differentiate it from the competition. A hangtag with the sandals at retail will illustrate and highlight the tech benefits. Built inside the sandal's midsole are two control plates that provide stability underfoot and off load bottom pressures. And an internal rocker helps make walking easier. A wider outsole base provides stabil- ity. e sandal also has a firm, contoured footbed with a deep heel cup providing support around and under the foot. While many recovery sandals use so EVA, which may initially feel good, says Werremeyer, the tradeoff is oen less support under the foot which he says can lead to misalignment issues of Foot, Ankle, Knee, Hips, and lower back. Explains Werremeyer, "e same rationale for providing comfort footwear applies to a Recovery Sandal which needs to be supportive to off load pressures under the foot and especially prevent ankle injuries." To ensure a proper fit, Xelero is using different molds for men's and women's styles. "e fact is most Recovery Sandals are worn for everyday use," Werremeyer states. "It's important that customers understand the need to wear supportive footwear for the long-term health benefits." e Xelero TRU Recovery Sandal, available in Spring 2023 in men's and women's, will retail for $79.99. n THE FOOTWEAR EYE D arn Tough Vermont, manufacturer of performance out- door and lifestyle socks, has unveiled the Knit to Give Collection, a program that will launch an online exclusive new sock style every quarter with all profits going to support neighbors in need via the Vermont Foodbank.
