1126 Boylston Street, Penthouse Unit 701 a Foundation for success Harold Brown, the affable MIT alumnus who founded the company in 1954 and remains at the helm to this day as its Chairman, masterfully drew the blueprint for success of HCMC. This success was further amplified with the arrival of The Hamilton Company's talented President, Carl Valeri, who joined the firm in 1994. The premise then, and now, was strong and enduring growth impelled by market forces and enhanced by the retention of top personnel to lead, coordinate, facilitate and prosper by providing the ultimate in client services. For this article, Brown graciously chose to relinquish the limelight in deference to his key associates "so they can say glowing things about me while I'm out of the room," he jests. "But seriously, they are the main reasons behind my love for this company." echoing the business model env isioned by Brown nearly 60 years ago and 1126 Boylston Street, Penthouse Unit 702 successfully carried out by Valeri and his staff, is Steve Weinig, President of HCMC. "We provide all our clients with the vast capabilities of large companies, but with the attentive, customer-friendly services offered by smaller firms," Weinig says. "In fact, I am personally involved with every project. "When we began HCMC in 2002, we developed mostly fit-ups for our own tenants , but we gradua lly became a stand-alone organization with the ultimate goal of slow and steady growth, which has worked out perfectly for us. Such a reasonable pace of progress has allowed company management to keep firmly in touch with each job." He adds that the fir m's conser vative approach to expansion allows for a healthier level of risk tolerance, as it takes on various sized projects — such as renovations, rehabilitations and new construction — not strictly motivated by profit, but by market circumstances as well. Along with design-build and renovations , mixed-use (residential/ retail) projects are a major part of the company's repertoire, with approximately half being The Hamilton Company's own development projects and the balance with third-party, unrelated clients. Armed with vast experience in all facets of project development and construction, HCMC has ser vices that range from pre-construction planning and permitting to complete construction operations and building commissioning. The company provides in-house architectural services, traditional construction management and general contracting, and has experienced vibrant growth in design-build. HCMC is affiliated with one of the region's largest real estate developers and is thus uniquely attuned to the requirements of builders, lenders, property owners and tenants.
