The designs were conceived by Samara Z. Tilkin, AIA, leeD AP, the firm's Director of Architecture who overcame the daunting challenge of crafting generous floor plans with extraordinary views while also achieving code compliance. Tilkin designed two large, two-bedroom and two-bathroom apartment units on the rooftop and an impressive 1,450-square-foot, three-bedroom duplex interconnected by a contemporary stainless steel spiral stair. A stunning aspect of her architectural design is how the open views of the Back Bay sk yline are afforded through the exterior masonry wall facing east. One of the units features a soaring, 24-foot-high window opening to allow for a Kawneer glazed curtain wall system that would make the inspiring city views possible. All new mechanical, plumbing and electrical systems were tied into the base building, while structural reinforcement of the perimeter walls, new windows and skylights, and new titanium-colored metal panels completed the rebuilt exterior envelope. like all other projects with which she is involved, Tilkin, who has been with the company for some 18 years, earned high praise from Weinig.
