Greetings, and welcome to MD News Long Island. This month, we have a lot to share from providers across our region. You may have seen NSPC Brain & Spine Surgery's logo on a van in the area. That's right — they now have a mobile clinic that can travel to a patient's place of work to provide care. We learn more about that endeavor, plus we delve into the complex spine procedures NSPC offers to patients across Long Island. Next, we turn to Stony Brook Cancer Center, where they're advancing cancer care for some of the most notorious gastrointestinal cancers, including pancreatic cancer. We share details about the innovative procedures available. We finish off our local features with a visit to Long Island Laparoscopic Doctors. Revision surgery is more challenging than initial bariatric operations, but for patients who have struggled with an unsatisfactory bariatric surgery, the results of a successful revision can be life changing. In our special clinical section on women's health, we look at treatment modalities for HR-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer. The RxPONDER Trial suggests that some groups of women would be best served by hormone therapy alone, while others do best with a combination of hormone therapy and chemotherapy. We also share legal advice about hysterectomy complications, courtesy of the experts at Martin Clearwater & Bell LLP. We round off this issue with financial advice from Dave Rao and a selection of area hospital and healthcare news.
