30 • Textile Insight ~ Winter 2023 textileinsight.com DAVID GELLIS, PRESIDENT, GORDINI "In 2022, Gordini implemented key processes and platforms that will allow us to do our most extensive, efficient impact reporting yet. We transitioned all our raw material data to Texbase, implemented supplier scorecarding across Tier 1, 2 and 3 suppliers, and introduced an updated Supplier Manual and Code of Conduct. Key projects for 2023 include completing the transition to non-fluorinated (PFAS-free) DWR in all our products; certifying our wool and down products and facilities under RWS and RDS, respectively; launching a repair program for our gloves; and engaging with Higg MSI on measuring our Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions to set targets for reduction. In 2023, Gordini plans to expand its headquarters in Essex Junction to support a growing team, which includes a new Director of People and Culture. Gordini looks forward to continuing to focus its efforts on employee wellbeing, supply chain resilience, and community partnerships." STACY HOLT, FOUNDER & PRINCIPAL, THE HOLT CO. "is year at e Holt Co. is about holding steady with initiatives and pivots we've made in the past few years, like transitioning from hands-on product development, to virtual content creation. e global pandemic presented an opportunity for us to invest time and resources differently. We evaluated and adopted new 3D technologies, updated hardware, and leveled up our skills. In 2023, all our new tools will be letting us run the business in a greener way. For example, some of our new workflows eliminate the need for global shipping and air travel. Instead, we're referencing digital 3D representations to make initial sourcing decisions. We're using cloud-based tools to do real-time collaboration. Our resolve to use 3D products more fully will help e Holt Co. reduce carbon emissions, sampling, and all the related waste going to landfills." LORI WYMAN, N. AMERICAN REPRESENTATIVE, GLOBAL ORGANIC TEXTILE STANDARD (GOTS) "We celebrated the 20th anniversary of GOTS in 2022, ending the year with a successful consumer education campaign highlighting the hazards of greenwashing in the organic world. From that, we have a lot of momentum going into 2023. GOTS staff and industry experts spent much of 2022 working on the new version of the Standard, GOTS Version 7.0, which will be released in March 2023, and a cause for celebration for the organization. Several research and action-based projects around the world are focused on improving the textile industry – from expanding the supply chain to increasing soil health to providing opportunities for underserved and vulnerable workers. Beyond that, GOTS has worked with trade groups to combat greenwashing in the industry, as well as to incorporate mandates for workers' rights among a larger group of standards that have not required them previously." n EXECUTIVE Q&A / NEW YEAR OUTLOOK
