In this issue, we explore cardiovascular offerings available at WellSpan Health. First, we explain why WellSpan Health is a leader in left atrial appendage occlusion. These precise, minimally invasive surgeries offer patients who can't use anticoagulation medications relief from some of the symptoms of atrial fibrillation. Another feature examines WellSpan Health's approach to caring for inherited cardiovascular disease. The program offers therapies for numerous inherited heart conditions. In another article, we discuss the advanced structural heart procedures available at WellSpan Health. We also report on a novel treatment for chronic total occlusion and sound-based technologies to treat severe coronary artery disease. We round off our visit to WellSpan Health by introducing new providers. In a national feature, we discuss the role of housing, in particular homelessness and housing instability, in negative health outcomes. Some programs have found that housing assistance helps people better manage their health. Our clinical feature on infectious diseases looks at a possible connection between multiple sclerosis and Epstein-Barr virus. People with a history of Epstein-Barr virus are at 32 times greater risk of developing multiple sclerosis, according to a study of more than 10 million archived blood samples taken by the U.S. Armed Forces. We also round up facts about immunization rates. Thank you for reading MD News. Warm regards, Susan Ecenbarger
