Our survey respondents reported that they primarily shop for their running footwear at running specialty stores, while their top destination for running apparel is sporting goods stores. e greatest percentage of respondents said they replace their running shoes every 3-6 months, and the sweet spot on price point for a pair of running shoes is between $100-$150. Socks jumped out amongst the categories mentioned, with 56% of those surveyed saying their choice of socks is very important to their running experience. And when asked about reflective/safety products, reflective socks stood out as category surging in popularity. We also got some interesting open-ended replies to questions about sustainability and when to replace shoes. When asked if they would be more likely to buy from a brand if it offered a take-back recycling program for shoes, 84% said yes. And 63% said that, yes, a brand's sustainability story plays a part in apparel and footwear purchasing decisions. As for whether running shoes should come with a mileage/expiration date, 75% said yes, with one respondent even stating, "If they did, I would pay more money." n e survey, conducted by MESH01, included 441 respondents, men and women, ages 18 to 60 who identify themselves as active runners.
