Aside from your running shoes, what do you feel is the most essential item that you personally use or wear when you go on a run, and why? Running shorts with pockets to retain phone and key. Female 45 Handheld water bottle. Hydration is key. And my socks. A good pair of socks can keep blisters at bay. Female 32 My socks and my sports bra. e bra is essential, I would not run without one if I forgot to pack it. I may consider doing a short run without socks, but absolutely none without a bra. Female 46 Sunblock, no matter the time of day I must protect my skin. Second is my water, hydration is important. Female 41 A fanny pack that carries my phone and mace to stay safe. Female 32 Comfortable moisture wicking clothing and fitness watch/phone app. I want quality clothing and to be able to track my progress. Male 37 Reflectors. If bikes need it, humans should have them too. Male 40 Socks that are comfortable and running belt for my phone! Need to prevent blisters and I hate running with my phone in my hand. Male 30 My watch. I like keeping track of my mileage, pace and tracking heart rate analytics. Female 42 My vest so I can hold my keys, water bottle and snacks. Female 35 My Garmin watch. I like to see my stats and it keeps me accountable. It also has an emergency feature that works with my phone so I feel safer. Female 39 Good socks. e right pair of running socks can affect performance and comfort. I choose socks that have optimal ventilation, wick moisture and offer support in all the right places. Female 28 Apple Watch to track my distance, pace, breathing etc. Female 33 Run belt with water bottle, smart watch, hat if it's raining or sunny, comfortable clothes, run socks. Female 40 My headphones are essential. I have tried running without music and I have a hard time going as far and long as I'd like. ey also need to be comfortable and stay in place. Female 32 Sports bra. And cute clothes. Makes me feel good and more motivated. Female 53 I believe it is imperative that runners wear reflective clothing at all times since we are the most at risk to be unseen. Female 60 Water, mace, whistle and phone just in case something were to happen to me or I'm injured. Female 41 Socks! Depending on the weather and where I'm running, I select the appropriate socks. e last thing I need are a bad pair of socks to ruin a good run. Male 29 e shorts. Cannot stand when shorts ride up or fall down. Need to be breezy and comfortable. I feel the same about the top I am wearing. Female 30 Reflective clothing as I run at dusk. Female 45 Headbands and run belts — hold my keys, handle my sweat! Female 40 GPS watch; I like to know how far I've gone, my pace, and track my cumulative distance. Male 38 Sports bra...it has to hold my sisters in, not chafe, not get too sweaty and can be taken off without breaking my shoulder. Female 55 Insoles!!! I have always wished shoes would come with two pairs of their branded insoles just like they do with shoe laces. Female 38 Shorts. A good pocket system with a liner that doesn't chafe. Male 30 Socks. For me, they make or break any run longer than 3 miles. Blisters mess up not only this run, but several subsequent runs. Male 44 Socks, sports bra, shorts that don't ride up or have band roll down, hat for sun and skin protection. Female 30 66 • May/June 2023 sportstyle • sportstylemag.com Continued from Page 50.
