Earl Grey–Poached
Dates over Caramel
Crème Fraîche
Dates are so deeply sweet and candy-like, they're practically
dessert all on their own. My husband, however, would never
buy into this truth. So, I duped him by bringing caramel
cream and cookies to the party—the latter almost always
does the trick. This is a luxurious way to end a meal on a cold
winter night. But don't be too fooled: The soft, chewy dates
are the star here, though piling them onto a little creamy
decadence absolutely doesn't hurt.

JUST ADD
CHEESE
Cheese has a way of
turning a ho-hum salad
into something dynamic
and delicious. Here are
a few of my favorite
ways to use it:
Pan-f ry or grill thick slices
of protein-rich halloumi
to bulk up your salad and
turn it into a meal.
Spread a thick layer of
whole-milk ricotta on the
inside of your bowl before
piling in your salad so you
can swipe up something
creamy with every forkful.
Make a quick and
flavorful vinaigrette by
whisking together equal
parts olive oil and lemon
juice and a healthy dose
of finely grated Parmesan
or Pecorino.
