Comfort. Followed close behind by style. Interestingly, 70% say they purchase sneakers to be worn for non- athletic use. Also of note: 88% of respondents say they will (or may) wear their sneakers to work. And 19% say they prefer slip-on sneakers to lace-ups. Regarding sustainability, 75% of consumers surveyed say they are (or may be) willing to pay more for footwear if it is made in a more sustainable manner with eco-friendly materials. And 92% would take advantage of a retail take-back program to recycle shoes, though 48% say they would expect a credit towards a new pair. When it comes to the still-evolving recovery footwear category, for those survey respondents who have purchased recovery footwear, 46% are using the footwear for post- sport activities, 37% "just to be comfortable" and 17% for post-work wear. e most popular silhouette of recovery footwear, according to our survey is the slide (66%). This survey conducted by MESH01 included 322 respondents, men and women who are active and purchased footwear in stores.
