Healing for the Body and Spirit For many patients, admission to a hospital brings a host of worries. Anxiety, fear, and isolation during this uncertain time can be as much a priority as healing physical conditions. For these spiritual needs, CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – New Braunfels has partnered with Oakwood Church of New Braunfels to provide patient ambassadors and care volunteers to offer support during a medical crisis. TRAINED AND DEDICATED Patient ambassadors are trained volunteers who provide companionship. A patient ambassador may read books, play board games, or just talk with a hospitalized patient who may not have friends or family close by. For those without a support system, a visit with a patient ambassador can be comforting in the healing process. Care volunteers provide fellowship with patients who are staying at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – New Braunfels nearing the end of their life. Care volunteers are available at any time, day or night, on every day of the week. Trained to care for the needs of end-of-life patients, care volunteers provide compassion, support, and companionship. PARTNERSHIP IN SPIRITUAL HEALTH The patient ambassadors and care volunteers programs are among the many ways CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – New Braunfels cares for the body, mind, and soul in fulfilling its mission to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ. To get involved with the care volunteer program, contact Oakwood Church at 830.625.1151.
