Here in our region, physicians within the Health DANSENkIw@MDNEwS.COM Quest system are providing novel, multidisciplinary 914-967-6565 treatment plans to close acute and chronic wounds. To expand the network of wound care services, Health Quest launched the Wound Care and Hyperbaric Therapy Center at Northern Dutchess Hospital in January 2013, making it the third facility in their wound care network. Residents need not travel far to access state-of-the-art technologies and innovative treatment plans to heal wounds and prevent amputation. Also this month, we highlight the trend of relying on physician liaisons for partnership opportunities with referring colleagues. As our feature notes, a national physician survey found that roughly two-thirds of participants were "very unlikely" to change the way they refer patients without physician liaison involvement. The article may help you consider the benefits of turning to a liaison in the new age of health care. Our special clinical section examines bariatric medicine and includes topics ranging from tips for helping patients improve BMI to disease management techniques suggested by the link between sleep apnea and Type 2 diabetes. The clinical feature in this section takes a detailed look at the potential future of bariatric care in the wake of the American Medical Association's classification of obesity as a disease.
