for patient satisfaction, nursing
excellence and employee engagement, the
century-old Winchester Hospital expects a
partnership with Lahey Health will provide
a solid foundation for years to come.
Pending state regulatory approval,
Winchester Hospital's affiliation with
Burlington-based Lahey Health, which currently includes Lahey Hospital and Medical
Center and Northeast Health System, will
allow Winchester Hospital to offer the full
continuum of care to patients.
"It is our duty to the community to evolve
as the industry evolves," says Kevin Smith,
CEO of Winchester Hospital.
The June 2013 decision to affiliate with
Lahey Health was based on a year-long study
of the healthcare environment, as well as an
assessment of potential long-term strategic
partners. A 42-member Affiliation Steering
Committee made up of physician, hospital
and board leaders conducted the evaluation.
"We went through a rigorous and thoughtful
process to make sure we made the best decision
possible for our patients and the community,"
Smith says of selecting Lahey Health as a
long-term strategic partner.
