from the Publisher E LCO M E TO TH E March-April issue of MD News, where you'll find stories and articles about, from and for physicians in the greater Cleveland/Akron/Canton area. Our cover story focuses on Tim Stover, MD, MBA, the Ohio Hospital Association's 2013 "Wellness Warrior." Wellness and disease prevention have long been Dr. Stover's passions — and that of Akron General Health System, which he leads as president and CEO. As Akron General celebrates its 100th anniversary, we take a look at its past, present and future through the eyes of Dr. Stover. Wellness and the importance of screening for colon cancer is the theme of our feature story on University Hospitals (UH) Community Gastroenterology & Quality Center. Fewer than half of the people who should be screened for colorectal cancer actually are. Whether that disparity is the result of fear, lack of access, or a lack of awareness, the GI physicians affiliated with this Center are devoted to addressing it — at 17 outpatient centers throughout Northeast Ohio. Minimally Invasive Procedures is the theme of this issue's Special Clinical Section. Anchoring it is a story about advances in minimally invasive and robotic surgery at Fairview Hospital. Four years ago, the Hospital installed its own da Vinci Robotic System and began building a team of highly skilled surgeons. Today, even the most complex minimally invasive procedures are performed there. Back in the Business Section you'll find articles from local experts on HIPAA compliance, the Sunshine Act, Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), and stock market strategies. We hope you'll find these, and the rest of the articles in this issue, of interest and value. As always, your input is welcomed. Thanks for reading!
