Mid Hudson green initiative M I N I M A L I M P A C T 05-852 from the Publisher E LCO M E TO TH E March 2014 issue of MD News Mid Hudson. In every issue, we seek to bring you the latest news from the local medical industry, as well as insight into emerging research and trends on the national front. In recent years, considerable progress has been made in the management and prevention of hepatic disease. Research is ongoing and advances in science and medicine have fueled new surgical techniques and therapies. This month, we turn to the experts at Westchester Medical Center for insight into innovations including cutting- edge treatments and novel therapeutic approaches to complex liver problems. In 1996, Westchester Medical Center performed the first liver transplant in the Hudson Valley. Today, the center has performed over 400 liver transplants and offers innovative, state-of-the art evalu- ation and treatment for patients of all ages requiring liver transplants. While thumbing through the publication, I encourage you to take a moment to skim through our "People in the News" and "Local News" sections for a glimpse of local happenings here in our medical community. I hope you find these and all the articles in MD News Mid Hudson engaging and relevant. Please contact me at dansenkiw@mdnews.com or 914-967-6565 if you'd like to discuss topics for future issues.
