The state-of-the-art program is led by experts from St. Francis Hospital, The Heart Center. The collaboration between Good Samaritan Hospital and St. Francis Hospital was established through both institutions' realization of the stress involved when a loved one must undergo open-heart surgery outside the community. In response, Good Samaritan Hospital forged a relationship with St. Francis Hospital to bring world-class cardiac surgical care to Suffolk County. We also receive essential details this month on new and revised diagnostic standards for accredited hospitals, critical access hospitals and ambulatory healthcare organiza- tions that provide diagnostic imaging services. Compliance with these new standards is important for all facilities seeking to maintain The Joint Commission accreditation and continued participation in Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement programs.
