ALIF ACR In conjunction with its recent U.S. launch of Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion — Anterior Column Realignment (ALIF ACR), NuVasive, Inc. has developed hyperlordotic implants for enhanced correction of sagittal plane deformity. The ALIF ACR procedure targets sagit- tal plane imbalance caused by advanced degeneration. Four-fi fths of sagittal balance exists between L4 and S1, NuVasive notes, and that is the area where ALIF ACR seeks to improve alignment — with a less invasive approach than traditional techniques. Implants ordinarily used in an ALIF procedure provide only 8–15 degrees of lordosis. The ALIF ACR implants increase that to 20 degrees and 30 degrees. That larger footprint may enhance sagittal balance restoration capabilities.
