Mackenzie's story. When Mackenzie was born, she could barely breathe. Mackenzie was transferred to our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the area's highest level NICU. "They told us Mackenzie had a 10 percent chance of surviving," said Mackenzie's mother. "I'll never forget that day. The staff was right there with us, and one of her nurses told us she would never give up on Mackenzie." The next morning, Mackenzie was starting to respond to her treatment. At the Children's Hospital of San Antonio, the first and only freestanding children's hospital in the city solely dedicated to providing world-class care to the children of South - Central Texas, our children will always be first. TM She had a 10% chance of survival. We gave her 100% of our attention. NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE UNIT www.chofsa.org/nicu
