H A N K Y O U V E R Y much for re a d i n g t he Ju l y–A u g u s t edition of MD News. Once again, we examine the world- class health care available right here in Central New York. Our cover story features the new Cancer Center at Upstate Medical University. Offering the only area cancer program accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, Upstate is integrat- ing oncology care under one roof. This beautiful new setting provides sophisticated medical treatments and wide-ranging family resources. The Center will house the departments of radiation oncology, medical oncology and pediatric oncology, as well as multidisciplinary space for surgical oncology. The Cancer Center at Upstate is another step forward in the betterment of patient outcomes in our region. I would also like to welcome Greg Chianis of Chianis + Anderson Architects into the family of MD News expert columnists. Chianis + Anderson is a 14-person firm located in Binghamton, New York. The firm specializes in the creation of quality, well-designed healthcare environments for a variety of clients in the northeastern United States. Judging from some of the responses we have received, the Healthcare Architecture column looks to be a popular one. Once again, I would like to thank all those who come together to create our magazine. Here at MD News, we are dedicated to delivering an engaging reader experience, one with real local relevance. In each issue, we highlight distinguished and accomplished physicians and practice groups. We also provide updates on the latest medical studies, pointers for managing your practice and a unique look at what is happening in the local medical community. We love to receive nominations for cover stories, news from your organization and feedback about articles. I also suggest you visit www.mdnews.com to discover a wonderful resource for healthcare marketing. We are here to serve the physician and healthcare community.
