BRIEFS CentraState COMPREHENSIVE EPILEPSY CENTER OPENS CentraState Medical Center has launched The Comprehensive Epilepsy Center dedicated to improving the life and accessibility of care for people coping with seizures. Epileptologist Megdad M. Zaatreh, MD, board certifi ed in neurology and psychology, serves as medical director of The Center, which is staffed by an experienced team of epileptologists, neurologists, registered nurses, and technologists providing the full spectrum of care to adults, adolescents, and children with epilepsy. The Center provides both inpatient and outpatient diagnostic evaluations as well as the most advanced treatment options, including medication and dietary therapy, vagus nerve stimulation, and surgery. ENDOVASCULAR SERVICES MEDICAL DIRECTOR NAMED Robert Kayser, MD, medical director of Endovascular Services Robert Kayser, MD, FACC, FSCAI, has been named medical director of Endovascular Services at CentraState Medical Center. He is board certifi ed in cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, and nuclear cardiology, and his areas of expertise are interventional cardiology, peripheral vascular disease, general cardiology, nuclear cardiology, and cardiac computed tomography. Endovascular procedures are performed on blood vessels from inside the vessels themselves (using small wires, tubes, and balloons) as opposed to from the outside in, as with traditional, open surgery. CentraState’s annual Nursing Excellence Award is the highest honor that an RN or LPN can receive. More than 500 people participated in the 2nd annual Paulette Steps Toward Cancer Wellness 5K Run/1-Mile Walk in March at Monmouth Battlefi eld State Park in Manalapan. The event is named in honor of Paulette Stallone (photo at left), a colorectal cancer survivor treated at CentraState Medical Center, who is committed to helping others beat the disease through education, prevention, early detection, and a focus on wellness following a cancer diagnosis.
