He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from Colby College in Waterville, Maine, in 1996, before spending seven years at John Hancock Financial Services in Boston. Howell ended his tenure at John Hancock in 2004 as director of life insurance nance operations. After receiving a Master of Business Administration degree from Cornell University in 2006, Howell embarked on a healthcare career in which he served as chief operating of cer at four hospitals in as many states between 2006 and 2014. "I am honored to have been selected by the search committee," Howell says. "Claxton-Hepburn is a great hospital with a long history of quality, growth, and reinvestment. I am looking forward to hitting the ground running, and I am excited to begin working with our Board and my management team to plan for Claxton-Hepburn's future success."
