This month we travel to Brookline, Massachusetts, to feature Kenwood Builders' partners Boris Kutikov and Gerry Korchmar. Boris is the craftsman and artisan, combining his construction skills with Gerry's knowledge of how to help the clients fulfill their vision of what their dream house can become. They are busy! I was so impressed with the subcontractors who work with them. They are young, very educated and know their business. I know you will enjoy their story. The construction industry has recovered nicely, and you can see new construction everywhere. In order for contractors to keep construction sites busy with activity, they need a steady flow of young apprentices to replace retired workers. To this end, there is a program called Building Pathways. The pre-apprenticeship program was developed and launched under the guidance of Marty Walsh when he was head of the Boston Building Trades and remains one of his proudest accomplishments. Don't forget the BRAGB's 2014 Prism Awards event at the Boston Plaza Hotel on Oct. 9, 2014. Call Lorraine at BRAGB at 781-890-2101 for information. Also, don't forget the Architectural Boston Expo (ABX) show at the Convention Center in Boston, Oct. 28–30. I'll see you at my booth, Booth 358, at the show.
