Consequently, as a part of an overall system initiative to grow emergency services throughout the region, the construction of a new, larger emergency department on the Summa Barberton Hospital campus was approved. The project cost is estimated at $17.3 million. The new ED will increase the num-

The new ED will have private rooms, a larger waiting area for families, adequate parking, a dedicated general radiology unit, dedicated triage space, and a separate entrance for EMS and police. The project also includes a new cafeteria, dining area and conference center, existing areas which must be relocated due to the ED expansion. n
