+++++++++++++++++++ + + +++++++++++++++++++ LOCAL NEWS +++ +++ WELCH ALLYN HONORED BY PREMIER HEALTH CARE ALLIANCE Welch Allyn, global manufacturer of frontline medical products and solutions, recently announced that its Connex Elec- tronic Vitals Documentation (EVD) System was recognized by the Premier health care alliance as one of 18 top medical device in- novations introduced in 2010. The company also received the sixth annual Performance Award, which applauds the efforts of contracted suppliers to meet and exceed operational expectations. In selecting re- cipients, performance data is collected and scored over four successive calendar quar- ters. The company was formally recognized at an Innovation Celebration ceremony that celebrates advances in health care while highlighting health care industry suppliers committed to innovation and improving patient outcomes. The Welch Allyn Connex EVD System was selected by a committee of clinicians and other Premier health care alliance members based on its ability to impact the health care industry. Basic selection criteria included solutions that displayed unique- ness, as well as those that have an impact on an unmet medical need. "These new devices and products have the potential to substantially impact the safety, quality and cost-effectiveness of care," says Mike Alkire, Premier Purchasing Partners President. "All of the Innovation Celebration participants share Premier's commitment to provide innovative and valuable products and services to benefit our nation's health care providers and the patients they serve." The Welch Allyn Connex EVD System is an electronic vital signs documentation so- lution that gives health care professionals immediate access to accurate patient data to help enhance clinical decision-making, minimize risks and ultimately improve patient safety. The system includes the Welch Allyn Connex Vital Signs Moni- tor; Connex Vitals Management software; advanced accessory management stand; and Partners in Care, a service that goes beyond a standard product warranty and provides technical, educational and profes- sional support. "It is imperative for hospitals to operate in the highest-quality environment at the best possible cost, and Welch Allyn has been able to support alliance members in doing so," adds Alkire. "We're proud to rec- ognize it as a top performing organization." 16 | Central New York MD NEWS MDNEWS.COM
